McTopy names Boe as Acting Chief Administrative Officer

ST JOHN  - Soon after signing the oath as Acting Parish President, Acting Parish President Pat McTopy named Buddy Boe as his Acting Chief Administrative Officer. The Parish's Home Rule Charter calls for McTopy to immediately assume the powers and responsibilities of the office of Parish President following the vacancy of the previous Parish President. The Parish President has the ability to name the Chief Administrative Officer.  The appointed directors in the administration will remain in their current positions.

Boe was appointed as Public Information Officer by former Parish President Bill Hubbard in January 2008. In July of 2009, Boe was named as Communications assistant to the Parish President. Boe will serve in the position of Acting Chief Administrative Officer until the next Parish President is elected in a special election.

The duties listed for the Chief Administrative Officer in the Home Rule Charter include: supervising the operations of the various administrative departments, assisting the Parish President in such duties as may be assigned, and filling the duties of the President in his absence.

The current administration includes: Paul Oncale as Public Safety Director, Stacey Cador as Human Resources Director, Julia Remondet as Economic Development Director, Errol Manuel as Recreation Director, Clifford Bailey as Public Works Director, Elois Joseph as Health and Human Services Director, and Brenda Labat as Purchasing Director. Currently, the administration is interviewing for the position of Public Utilities Director and Mike Henderson is serving as acting Planning and Zoning Director.  Acting Parish President McTopy expects to name the Public Utilities Director at the regularly scheduled council meeting on October 13th.

A special council meeting has been called for October 6th. The special agenda will include a ceremonial swearing in of Acting Parish President Pat McTopy, the naming of the succession of office, the naming of the parish's authorized check signers, and the calling of a special election for the office of Parish President.
