St. John the Baptist Parish - In an effort to encourage the spirit of giving this Holiday Season, Parish President Natalie Robottom, her Administrative Staff, and St. John Parish employees teamed up to serve families in need for Christmas. In what is now an annual tradition, boxes and baskets filled with can goods, non-perishable food items, and gift certificates for turkeys and/or hams were decorated and assembled with holiday fixings for local families. A total of twenty seven boxes/baskets of food were donated and distributed to needy families this week, just in time for holiday meal preparations.
“Each year, this initiative gets bigger and better as more employees join us in helping those in need,” said President Robottom. “Working together, our efforts will assist over twenty five families this holiday season, including many with young children or those confined to their homes. We are grateful that our Firefighters are on hand to deliver food baskets to individuals with limited mobility or transportation."
The families receiving food donations were identified through the Department of Health and Human Services. Additional resources for needy families may be available through local churches and the St. John Ministry of Care.
