“This is always an exciting time of year for St. John Parish and we are looking forward to hosting our annual Andouille Festival and bringing in visitors from around the state to our wonderful community,” said President Robottom.

President Robottom welcomed attendees to kick off the event and provided some background information on the poster artist. Immediately following, Tracy Case Division Manager of Marathon Petroleum Company, LP presented a $30,000 donation to the Andouille Festival as the presenting sponsor. St. John the Baptist Parish Director of Economic Development, Jerry W. Jones Jr. introduced this year’s festival poster artist, Ciara Sanders, a native of LaPlace. Sanders offered remarks regarding her inspiration for this year’s festival poster.

“I will always remember going to the Andouille Festival growing up. Of course going with family and as the years went on I started going with my friends and it became a ritual,” said Sanders. “I was always there, enjoying the food and the music. I want to thank St. John the Baptist Parish and am so honored to be representing my hometown by creating this year’s festival poster.”

Following the remarks, Sanders joined Parish President Robottom to unveil the poster. President Robottom added that she has known Sanders since she was a child and is impressed with her skills. “We are thrilled to feature a local artist as we have done for many years now, and are very proud of Ciara.”

Posters will be available for sale beginning in October at the St. John Parish Economic Development Department, Matherne’s Supermarket in LaPlace, Don’s Supermarket and Greg’s Supermarket in Reserve.  One-hundred signed and numbered festival prints are being sold for $40.00 each and signature only are $30.000 each.  Posters will also be sold in the General Store the weekend of the Andouille Festival.
