St. John the Baptist Parish – Residents are reminded to vote in the Open General Election today, Saturday, December 8, 2018 if they have not done so already.

An existing millage that pays for Health Unit operations has generated excess funds and a rededication is on the ballot. This proposal allows the parish to use the money to pay for mental health services, mosquito control and medical services of the coroner’s office.

The rededication is NOT A TAX INCREASE, OR A NEW TAX and health unit programs would not be reduced if it is approved. A runoff for Secretary of State is also taking place as well as a School Board race in District 11.  The rededication proposal will be the last thing on your ballot.

“Please vote on allowing the Parish to continue supporting important public health initiatives,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom. “It is very important that you vote on funding the vital operations of the Coroner’s Office,” said Dr. Christy Montegut.

Polling sites throughout the parish will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. To visit the Secretary of State's website for more information,, click on the election tab on the side bar to the left, then click, "Where do I vote" and enter your name, date of birth and parish, and click search. This will give you your poll location.
