St. John the Baptist Parish - The 46th Annual Andouille Festival Presented by Marathon Petroleum Company, LP kick-off and poster reveal was held today, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the San Francisco Plantation Sugar Mill Barn. Parish President Robottom, Marathon Petroleum Company LP, Council and local elected officials, the Andouille Queens and Andouille festival organizers unveiled the official Annual Andouille Festival Poster to the public. The annual festival is slated to take place October 18 – 20, 2019 at the Thomas F. Daley Memorial (Hwy 51) Park in LaPlace.
President Robottom welcomed attendees and provided background information on the festival and poster tradition. “Creating a festival poster isn’t easy and for that reason, the tradition ceased for several years,” said Parish President Robottom. “During my Administration, we revived the cherished symbol of the festival poster representing St. John the Baptist Parish as the Andouille Capital of the World.”
Immediately following, Dave Foster, Vice President of the Louisiana Refining Division for Marathon Petroleum Company, LP presented a $35,000 donation to the Andouille Festival as the presenting sponsor. President Robottom then offered background information on the poster artist for the second consecutive year, Ciara Sanders, a native of LaPlace. Sanders offered remarks regarding her inspiration for this year’s festival poster.
“I am beyond grateful that I get to do this again for my hometown, said Sanders. It is an honor and I am just excited to be here today.” Following the remarks, Sanders joined Parish President Robottom to unveil the poster. Chief Administrative Officer, Laverne Toombs, also presented a framed poster to Parish President Robottom on behalf of the Andouille Festival Committee for her efforts throughout her tenure in ensuring a successful festival. Marathon was also presented with a signed poster.
Posters will be available for sale beginning mid-September at the St. John Parish Economic Development Department, Matherne’s Supermarket in LaPlace, Don’s Supermarket and Greg’s Supermarket in Reserve. One-hundred signed and numbered festival prints are being sold for $40.00 each and signature only are $30.000 each. Poster order forms can also be found at www.andouillefestival.com.
“We are incredibly proud to serve as the title sponsor for the past five years,” said Dave Foster, Vice President, Louisiana Refining Division for Marathon Petroleum Company, LP. “Our partnership with St. John parish has been a wonderful foundation of our refinery’s history.”
