Rotary Club of LaPlace members to commemorate the organization's 110 year anniversary.

President Robottom, Rotary/Council Members Cheryl Millet and Lucien Gauff gave a proclamation to Rotary Club of LaPlace members to commemorate the organization's 110 year anniversary.

The local club supports local education, quality of life, community development, environmental and civic initiatives. The annual Pups in the Park on 51 charity dog walk, has allowed the club to raise thousands of dollars to support for animal-related charities and initiatives in our local community. They also have many other programs including scholarships for college-bound students, helping local senior citizens and others in need, educational programs and more.

President Robottom & Council honored Jovanda Fields for earning Louisiana National Guard Spouse of the Year, as given by the Armed Forces Insurance Spouse of the Year program.

Jovanda, a St. John resident, was chosen over 1600 nominations submitted from over 190 institutions. She represents the 1084th Transportation Company in Reserve and recognizes those spouses who supported military, added to the strength of the base, maintained the home front during deployments and training missions at remarkable levels.

A Guard member described Jovanda as excellent in maintaining her household and full time support of her spouse and his platoon and always engaged to help soldiers and family members at the drop of a hat. Congratulations Jovanda and thank you for representing St. John so well.
