STEM St. John Workshop 2017

The St. John the Baptist Parish Grants Department recently hosted their second STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Math) St. John Workshop at REGALA gym in Reserve.

Funded by the United Way and the Parks and Recreation Department, about 85 Parish youth were able to learn about hydraulics.  With the help of local industry, school board, parish and STEM volunteers, participants were able to better understand how hydraulics work by building and using siphons, elevators and bridges all powered by hydraulics. Before leaving, participants also received Certificates of Achievement from Raising Canes for a free meal.

Thank you to the volunteers from Marathon and Cargill for helping put this program on.
