Economic Development Training Course

The St. John Parish Economic Development recently hosted an Economic Development for Elected and Appointed Leaders course at the St. John Community Center. The Economically Competitive and Resilient Communities (ECRC) course was conducted by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in partnership with the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) and the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA).

These intensive training courses are designed as two-day classroom-style “bootcamps,” which emphasize the system and practice of economic development in the Delta region, and help community leaders learn more about the state, federal and private sector resources that are available to assist them.

The interactive course provides participants with practical tools and inspiring examples to support critical economic development and resilience activities. Workshops will be conducted in all eight states served by DRA.

Thank you to the speakers who shared their expertise:

Dr. Ron Swager, CEcD, FM, President of Swager Consulting

Joy Wilkins, CEcD, Serving Communities

Quiana Brown, Regional Economic and Community Development Officer at DRA

Craig Hulse, CEcD, Director of Economic Development of North Richland Hills, TX

Sarah Garcia, AICP, Senior Economic Development Associate at IEDC
