Reserve Oxidation Pond Nears Completion

Parish President Natalie Robottom recently joined the Assistant Utilities Director Reed Alexander to tour the new Reserve Oxidation Pond.  Oxidation ponds are large ponds designed to treat wastewater through the interaction of sunlight, bacteria, and algae. Once in full operation, estimated to be within the next few weeks, the wastewater retention pond will treat 3 million gallons of wastewater a day from the Reserve area in a more natural and cost-effective manner.

Funded through the 2010 Bond Issue and an EPA grant, the $9 million project was designed by Environmental Engineering Services Inc. and constructed by The Lemoine Company, LLC.  The oxidation pond will greatly reduce stress on the River Road Waste Water Treatment Plant thus reducing overflows. It was constructed to allow for expansion.
